Marmite Madness!
The wailing of tears and temper tantrums can be heard from here in sunny Surrey from the kids in Wales because they can no longer have Marmite on their toast in their school breakfast clubs!
Ceredigion Council said the popular spread was now off the menu at all 51 school breakfast clubs in the county because of the high level of salt.
But strangely, marmalade and jam laden with sugar is OK ! But I’m also saddened by the demise of that old fashioned favourite lemon curd too….. perhaps it’s just too curt for Welsh taste?
So when did we lose the plot and have toppings for toast higher up the News features than ways to help families during the credit crunch?
Surely if kids like the taste of Marmite (and as the advert likes to point out - not all do!) and it encourages them to eat breakfast then isn’t that a good thing?
I know trying to get Molly to eat anything in the morning is a real trial and tribulation and I’d rather she had a bit of toast with a smear of marmite on it than nothing….. but hey….. I’m just old fashioned like that!
