Creating family talk time

I have recently been coaching a local group of parents on their philosophy to life and their general family ethos. I asked them to think about things that were important to them in life like their values, their beliefs and their principles because parents who know what they feel strongly about pass these values easily and clearly on to their children and family life becomes much easier....

Unfair, Unjust and Unbelievably Harsh

One of the most intriguing, unjust and unhelpful beliefs that a lot of parents have is the belief that because someone is excellent at something or displays incredible levels of skill it means that you can never become as skilful as them so there is no point in even trying....

Wearing your Party Pants!

My dear old Dad LOVED New Year’s Eve – he used to dance around St Boniface Social Club with a gin and tonic in one hand and a huge smile on his face saying to all and sundry “Hap…. Hap….. Happy New Year!!” He loved life and lived it really fully embracing people with kindness, tolerance and compassion. He was a real hero of mine – and I was really proud that he was my Dad and I miss him on nights like New Year’s Eve....

Parties - Facebook - Disasters!

My son had a party last month as he turned 16 – well he called it a gathering which I thought was really lovely and kind of old fashioned. About 15 of his friends came round, chatted , played on the Wii and had a laugh and we kept out of the way as it would have been a bit naff to be the “Mother Hen” and a trifle embarrassing for him if I kept asking them if they’d had enough to eat !...

It's got to be Gordon!

Last weekend Will washed his hands, emptied out the baked beans and I got all stressed and agitated rolling out the pastry for Gordon’s Cookalong Live Programme! My great friend Marneta Viegas of “Relax Kids” said to the Dragons on Dragons' Den, that she just wanted to help children relax and deal with the stresses of modern day living and here she is celebrating her company’s 5th birthday this month! She started jotting some relaxation exercises in a notebook in her tiny flat 5 years ago and had no idea it would grow so fast and help so many families and schools!...

So is it a tortoise or a turtle ?

I don’t know whether you’ve heard Clive Anderson’s advert on the radio at the moment to get people to join in a survey for  London Transport.
