The ultimate goal we all want for our kids is happiness and to bring up happy, confident, well-balanced adults; today’s children – tomorrow’s future and I wrote this “The parental journey audio CD and ideas book to help you do just that.
This is what Tony Robbins said in his great book “Awaken the Giant Within” about the power of goal setting.
“The difference in people’s ability to tap their personal resources is directly affected by their goal. A study of the 1953 graduates of Yale University clearly demonstrates this point. The graduates interviewed were asked if they had a clear, specific set of goals written down with a plan for achieving those goals. Only 3% had such written goals.
Twenty years later in 1973, the researchers went back and interviewed the surviving members of the 1953 graduating class.
They discovered that the 3% with written specific goals were worth more in financial terms than the entire 97% put together!
Obviously, this study measures only people’s financial development. However, the interviewers also discovered that the less measurable or more subjective measures, such as the level of happiness and joy that the graduates felt also seemed to be superior in those with written goals.
This is the power of goal setting.”
Bringing up children without a plan or a goal ultimately in mind is a bit like setting off for Edinburgh without a Sat Nav , map or compass! You may just get lost in the wood and not find your way through the trees!
So grab a cup of coffee and a pen and paper and just pause to ponder:
• What are your personal goals – for your self, your family, your health, your career?
• What do you most want to change?
• What one step could you do today to start that process off?
If you have enjoyed this short example of goal setting, then why not invest in my audio CD and ideas book which is packed full of ideas, suggestions and thought provoking questions looking at how you, with the right knowledge, tools and skills can successfully achieve your goals as a parent really easily.
